Around Ashburn Farm
Check out what is new in and around Ashburn Farm!
Our wineries, orchards, and farms need your help! The invasive Spotted Lanternfly was drawn to Loudoun by the Tree of Heaven but quickly moves on to grapevines and fruit trees, putting our local farms and wineries at risk. Join 1,000 of your fellow Loudouners for Scrape for the Grape on Saturday, March 29, 2025, and/or Saturday, April 12, 2025.
Ashburn Farm Association is a proud member of the Loudoun Invasive Removal Alliance (LIRA), We are partnering with Visit Loudoun, Loudoun Wineries and Winegrowers Association and the Virginia Cooperative Extension.
Volunteers will receive training and tools to safely remove Spotted Lanternfly egg masses from trees before they hatch, as well as to tag Tree of Heaven for future removal. As a token of appreciation, volunteers will receive souvenir scrapers, t-shirts, and bandanas.
Additionally, our local wineries and breweries are showing their gratitude with a special weekend of promotions for all volunteers on April 12-13. And for the kids, a sweet treat—a special event cookie from Mom’s Apple Pie!
Join us in protecting Loudoun’s farms and wineries while enjoying some well-deserved rewards!

Yard waste collection will begin on Monday, March 10th!
What is yard waste? - From Patriot Disposal's website:
Yard waste is defined as grass clippings, leaves, or bush/hedge trimmings resulting from normal maintenance of your yard. Please place your yard waste on the curb in brown paper yard waste bags or un-bagged in a personal container clearly marked ‘yard waste’ on both sides of the container.
Patriot Disposal will also collect tree trimmings so long as it is cut into four-foot lengths, with each limb or piece of brush no larger than four inches in diameter and tied in small bundles with rope or twine. Each bundle can be no larger than two feet in diameter.
